General Properties and Applications
Aluminum rods are measured by their diameter since different projects may require different lengths. Typically, anything less than 3/8 of an inch is used more for electrical work as wires since aluminum is an excellent conductor of electricity.
6061-T6 Aluminum rods are very strong and will often be used in replace of steel when weight is an issue since aluminum has a very good strength-to-weight ratio. Aluminum round bar can also be welded and is used in construction, transportation, and aviation for this reason in addition to its many advantageous physical properties.
Aluminum itself is a lightweight and conductive metal that is non-toxic and does not affect the taste of food or drink. It’s often used in a range of decorative and functional applications. Aluminum is commonly alloyed with copper, manganese, silicon, magnesium, and zinc for further hardness and durability.
